BRS MLC Sravan Dasoju Slams Congress Government Over Deteriorating Civic Infrastructure in Khairatabad

Hyderabad: The Bharatiya Rashtra Samithi's MLC Sravan Dasoju has leveled sharp criticism at the Congress administration for failing to address a mounting civic crisis affecting impoverished residents of Khairatabad constituency.
During a field inspection of Sriram Nagar and Ambedkar Nagar settlements located along Banjara Hills Road No. 12, Dasoju highlighted the "inhuman conditions" resulting from the deterioration of essential civic services. The visit was coordinated by local leaders Jejolla Raju Mudiraj, Md. Akhtar, Ramesh, Basva Goud, Ramulu and Sashikala.
Water and Sanitation Crisis
Residents raised multiple grievances during the inspection, including acute shortages of drinking water, contamination from sewage systems, deteriorated road conditions, and stalled drainage construction initiatives. In Ambedkar Nagar particularly, community members reported a dramatic decline in water supply since the government's transition, with authorities delivering water only once every two to three days for approximately 15 minutes. Compounding these concerns, residents alleged that sewage water has infiltrated drinking water pipelines, creating significant health hazards.
Incomplete Infrastructure Projects
Dasoju highlighted drainage and nala construction work near Mohammedia Masjid, which has remained unfinished for several months due to unpaid contractor invoices. This situation has left roads excavated and hazardous for residents navigating the area.
Political Criticism
Targeting Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Dasoju contended that the government prioritizes marketing campaigns and real estate ventures over essential civic maintenance. He specifically criticized the administration's focus on "Future City" initiatives while ordinary citizens struggle with basic service delivery.
The BRS leader also directed criticism toward Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender, accusing the legislator of neglecting constituent grievances.
Warning of Escalation
Dasoju challenged the government's "Telangana Rising" campaign, noting that ground conditions reveal overflowing sewage systems, damaged infrastructure, and precarious open drains. Following discussions with GHMC Commissioner Ilambarithi L. Karnan and zonal administrators, Dasoju demanded immediate corrective action, warning that the BRS would escalate its response through large-scale demonstrations and potential siege of GHMC headquarters should authorities fail to intervene promptly.
