Electoral Officer Reviews Voter Mapping Progress Across Telangana Constituencies

Hyderabad — Telangana's Additional Chief Electoral Officer Vasam Venkateswar Reddy has pressed officials to expedite preparations for the upcoming Special Intensive Revision, emphasizing the need to complete voter mapping and electoral roll updates with greater urgency.

During a video conference held Monday from the Chief Electoral Officer's office in Hyderabad, Reddy engaged with Election Returning Officers and Assistant Election Returning Officers representing 28 Assembly constituencies spanning Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Sangareddy, Medchal–Malkajgiri, Nizamabad, and Khammam districts. A significant concern emerged during the meeting: voter mapping efforts in these areas have not yet surpassed the 50 percent threshold.

The officer conducted an extensive review of multiple aspects of the revision process, including electoral mapping procedures, the handling of demographically similar entries, and the status of pending Forms 6, 6A, 7, and 8. He instructed officials to cross-reference all eligible voters in the current 2025 electoral roll against the 2002 voter list to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.

To accelerate the process, Reddy directed Booth Level Officers to undertake comprehensive door-to-door visits and complete data collection at a faster pace. He also emphasized the strategic deployment of Booth Level Agents and encouraged coordination with Residential Welfare Associations to strengthen verification mechanisms and broaden coverage.

Among other directives, the officer called on teams to systematically identify deceased voters, duplicate entries, and individuals who have relocated, taking appropriate action according to established protocols. He also instructed officials to clearly designate VVIP and VIP electors within the electoral rolls.

Reddy stressed that Assistant Election Returning Officers must adhere strictly to their action plans and meet daily mapping targets to ensure timely completion of the exercise. The Deputy Chief Electoral Officer, State Technical and Nodal Officer, project manager, and other staff members participated in the meeting.
