Hyderabad is set to welcome another major player to its expanding global capability centre landscape. Southwest Airlines will open its GCC in the city, reinforcing Hyderabad's standing as a premier destination for such operations.
Representatives from the airline met with Telangana's IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu at the Secretariat on Monday to discuss the development. The airline has invited the minister to be present at the inauguration ceremony scheduled for May 20.
The Southwest Airlines delegation included three senior executives: Lauren Woods, who holds the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer; Krishna Kallepalli, Vice President and Global Head of Innovation India; and Tom Merritt, Vice President and Chief Technology Officer.
The establishment of this centre is anticipated to reinforce Hyderabad's appeal as a location where global capability centres choose to base their operations, according to officials familiar with the development.
During the meeting, Minister Sridhar Babu highlighted the Telangana government's commitment to elevating global capability centres into Global Value Centers through strategic innovation and investment initiatives. He underscored the administration's focus on drawing multinational corporations to the region while simultaneously creating employment prospects for the state's youth.
The minister noted that Hyderabad continues to position itself as a leading choice for international companies seeking to establish technology and innovation operations within India.
The opening of Southwest Airlines' facility is expected to further enrich Hyderabad's existing landscape of global business and technology enterprises, contributing to the city's continued development as a hub for international corporate activity.
