Telangana's top prison official, Dr. Soumya Mishra, opened the 32nd "My Nation" filling station in Khanapur, Narsampet on April 27, as part of the state's broader push to help released prisoners rebuild their lives through employment.

The fuel station, operated by Indian Oil Corporation Limited, represents a significant component of the Telangana Prisons Department's rehabilitation strategy. It aims to create stable job opportunities for prisoners who have completed their sentences or reformed, facilitating their smooth transition back into mainstream society.

Speaking at the inauguration, Mishra described such initiatives as embodying more than commercial enterprise—they represent hope, dignity, and the possibility of redemption. She commended Indian Oil Corporation for its commitment to programmes that prioritise social responsibility and inclusion.

The visit extended beyond the filling station opening. Mishra conducted a comprehensive inspection of the Special Prison for Women at Narsampet, examining security protocols, conditions for inmates, food provisions, medical facilities, and sanitation standards. She met with women prisoners, assessing their welfare and encouraging participation in skill-building and rehabilitation schemes. Mishra underscored the importance of maintaining a prison environment rooted in reform rather than mere punishment.

At the Central Prison in Warangal (Mamnoor), Mishra formally inaugurated a newly built administrative structure designed to streamline operations and strengthen the facility's infrastructure. During her review of the prison's operations, she reiterated the department's commitment to enhancing security measures, modernising facilities, and prioritising inmate welfare.

Several officials attended the visit, including M Sampath, Deputy Inspector General of Prisons for the Warangal Range; S Ankit Kumar, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police in Warangal; T Kalasagar, Superintendent of Central Prison Warangal; and P Venkateswara Swami, District Social Justice Officer. Y Sarath, Divisional Retail Sales Head for Warangal at Indian Oil Corporation, was also present.

The series of activities reflected the Telangana Prisons Department's philosophy of integrating security and rehabilitation, working to reshape correctional institutions into spaces where reform and positive change can flourish.
