Hyderabad Man Arrested After Assaulting Traffic Officer During Roadside Check

Hyderabad Police have arrested a software engineer following an altercation with traffic enforcement officials at GPO X Road in Abids.
The accused has been identified as Pasupula Yeshwanth, 26, a Hyderabad resident.
On May 24 at approximately 5:45 pm, Sub-Inspector Anil Kumar and traffic personnel were conducting routine vehicle inspections when they stopped a Honda CB 350 motorcycle carrying two occupants and a pet. Upon examination, officers found that neither the rider nor the pillion passenger was wearing a helmet.
The traffic officials requested the motorcycle operator to furnish his driving licence and other documentation so they could issue an electronic traffic violation notice for the helmet infraction.
According to police accounts, the rider became confrontational during this interaction. He allegedly assaulted Home Guard Y. Kumar and directed abusive language at the traffic personnel. The incident resulted in injuries to the officer and caused a disturbance in the public area.
Following the complaint, authorities registered a case against Yeshwanth under FIR No.169/2026. He was subsequently arrested and presented before the II Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court in Nampally, where he received a 14-day judicial custody remand.
