163 Students from Telangana's Social Welfare Institutions Qualify for IIT Admissions

Hyderabad—The Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TGSWREIS) has announced a significant achievement in the latest JEE Advanced results, with 163 students gaining eligibility for admission to India's premier engineering institutions, the Indian Institutes of Technology.
The strong performance emerged from students enrolled across the society's 37 Centres of Excellence, which offer specialized preparation for national-level competitive examinations. Among those who qualified, 61 students secured direct IIT seats, while 102 others obtained preparatory ranks, making them eligible for admission.
The students' accomplishments extended beyond qualification numbers. Several achieved remarkable placements in community-wise rankings. One student ranked among the top 500 in their community category, with three additional students breaking into the top 1,000. A further 14 students placed within the top 2,000, while 25 secured positions within 3,000 and 39 ranked within 5,000.
P. Hemanth, studying at Chilkur Boys Centre of Excellence, emerged as a standout performer, achieving an All India Community Rank of 200 in the Scheduled Tribe category. The Gowlidoddi Boys Centre of Excellence also produced students with strong community rankings across the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, and Economically Weaker Section categories.
TGSWREIS secretary Vijayaendra Boyi attributed the results to the confidence parents have invested in the gurukul education model. She highlighted that systematic coaching programmes, regular evaluations, academic mentorship, and the calibre of faculty members formed the foundation of this success.
Telangana's Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar commended the students, educators, and families involved, noting that the results demonstrated how economic circumstances need not limit academic potential. He emphasized that students from rural, Dalit, tribal, and economically disadvantaged communities were now gaining entry into India's leading engineering and medical institutions.
The minister pointed to recent investments in raising academic standards, incorporating digital learning platforms, and strengthening competitive examination coaching as key drivers behind the improved outcomes. He expressed optimism that Telangana's gurukul system would continue to achieve national-level recognition in the years ahead, with increased support from the state government directed towards helping gurukul students secure admissions to IITs, NITs, IIITs, and AIIMS.
