Hyderabad Police Deploys SOCEYE, AI-Powered Social Media Intelligence Platform

Hyderabad's police department has rolled out a sophisticated AI-driven surveillance system called SOCEYE—Social Media Observation and Cyber Intelligence—aimed at combating harmful online content and tracking individuals engaged in cyber misconduct that could threaten public peace.
The initiative represents a significant technological advancement in how the force approaches cyber surveillance and crime prevention, with the system automating processes that previously demanded continuous human oversight across various social media channels.
Through its integrated dashboard, SOCEYE operates around the clock to scan content, examine patterns, and support investigative work. The platform draws information from emergency services, intelligence reports, and live city event data to deliver immediate operational insights.
During its testing phase, the system proved effective in identifying problematic posts. It flagged 85 posts containing hate speech and communally divisive material tied to the Puranapul X Road incident, alongside 126 objectionable posts associated with the Gudimalkapur situation. Following detection, authorities moved to remove such content and apprehended individuals suspected of spreading inflammatory material to preserve communal harmony.
Automated Detection and Classification
The AI system continuously tracks accounts involved in spreading harmful material and prioritises monitoring of content related to drug trafficking and crimes against women. It automatically identifies posts involving child sexual abuse material, online harassment, and unwanted pursuit, then categorises them as high, medium, or low priority based on severity. By mapping networks that amplify sensitive posts, the platform has substantially decreased reliance on manual review processes.
The system also incorporates an automated mechanism for managing public complaints. Messages sent to Hyderabad City Police's social media accounts are automatically sorted, assigned reference numbers, and tracked from initial submission through resolution. This functionality simultaneously flags patterns and geographic hotspots requiring attention.
Real-Time Monitoring During Critical Events
Authorities have implemented keyword-based tracking systems that activate during demonstrations, religious events, and large public assemblies. This real-time monitoring of related online activity enables early identification of potential disturbances to law and order.
The platform combines sophisticated intelligence-gathering tools and publicly available information analysis to strengthen cybercrime investigations and digital forensics. Its rapid-scan search capability can instantly examine public social media profiles and compile posts containing targeted terms, enabling officers to quickly understand emerging online discussions and identify developing situations.
