Telangana's Electoral Roll Revision Reaches 42% of Voters in First Four Days

Hyderabad — The pace of Telangana's electoral roll revision exercise has accelerated, with election authorities successfully distributing 1,43,17,635 enumeration forms during the initial four days of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 programme. According to the Chief Electoral Office, this distribution has reached 42.33% of the state's voting population.

The milestone figures were released by the Chief Electoral Office on Sunday. Across the state, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have been conducting systematic door-to-door canvassing to hand out the enumeration forms as part of the comprehensive electoral roll revision drive.

State election authorities have scheduled a video conference for Monday with District Election Officers and Electoral Registration Officers to evaluate the initiative's progress. During this meeting, officials plan to review complaints lodged by political parties regarding the distribution process and address challenges reported by BLOs working in the field.

Concerns have emerged from several Booth Level Officers about managing the heavy workload involved in form distribution alongside their existing responsibilities. The election administration intends to assess these operational hurdles and develop strategies to facilitate the uninterrupted completion of the enumeration exercise.

The state government has issued directives to all departments prohibiting the assignment of supplementary duties to BLOs engaged in the SIR 2026 operation. This measure is intended to allow these officials to concentrate fully on voter verification and form distribution activities.

Officials are also expected to deliberate on approaches to enhance the efficiency of the enumeration process and strengthen coordination mechanisms at the district administrative level.
