Students Islamic Organisation Stages Demonstration Against NEET Exam Irregularities in Hyderabad

Hyderabad witnessed a significant show of student activism on Tuesday as the Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) Telangana organised a demonstration at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Statue near Liberty Circle at Tank Bund. The rally centred on mounting concerns about the National Testing Agency (NTA) and its handling of the NEET examination.

The gathering brought together students, activists and concerned citizens who voiced strong criticism of the testing body's management of national-level competitive examinations. Demonstrators highlighted what they characterised as systemic failures, including allegations of administrative negligence and repeated irregularities in examination administration.

Mohd Faraz Ahmed, state president of SIO Telangana, addressed the assembled crowd and pointed to the widespread impact of these failures. He noted that over 22 lakh students nationwide were being adversely affected by the continuing cycle of examination controversies and procedural failures. Ahmed stressed that the stakes were particularly high for aspirants whose futures depended on fair and transparent testing mechanisms.

The SIO leader called for the immediate resignation of the Union Education Minister and demanded the dissolution of the NTA itself. He argued that the agency's track record demonstrated a fundamental inability to maintain examination integrity or ensure transparency in its operations.

Beyond the leadership's remarks, Ahmed highlighted the psychological toll these controversies were taking on students and their families. The repeated incidents of paper leaks and examination irregularities had eroded public confidence, he said, while simultaneously creating considerable anxiety among those preparing for competitive entrance tests.

The protesters articulated several key demands aimed at reforming India's examination system. They called for accountability measures targeting officials responsible for corruption and irregularities, immediate action against those involved in paper leaks, and the establishment of a new examination framework built on principles of fairness, transparency and student protection.

SIO Telangana reiterated its broader commitment to safeguarding student interests and advocated for a complete overhaul of how competitive examinations are conducted and supervised. The organisation urged the government to prioritise creating an examination system that operates with genuine accountability and places student welfare at its centre.
