Telangana Minister Opens Working Women's Hostel and Sakhi Centre in Hyderabad

Danasari Anasuya Seethakka, Telangana's Minister for Panchayat Raj, Rural Development, and Women and Child Welfare, formally opened a working women's hostel and Sakhi centre in Hyderabad's Banjara Hills on Tuesday. The inauguration took place during the state's ongoing women's week celebrations.
The event drew attendance from MP Anil Kumar Yadav, MLA Danam Nagender, Women's Commission Chairperson Vijayalakshmi, and Child Commission Chairperson Seetha Dayakar Reddy. Representatives from the Child Rights Commission, Women Development Corporation, and various government officials also participated in the programme.
The newly established "Sakhi Nivas" hostel has capacity for approximately 150 women and includes dedicated amenities for mothers with young children. The facility addresses the housing needs of women who relocate to Hyderabad seeking employment opportunities.
During her address, Seethakka emphasized the government's commitment to prioritizing women's safety, dignity, and economic self-sufficiency. She highlighted that the state has doubled the interest-free loan ceiling for women self-help groups, raising it from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh.
The minister outlined several government initiatives aimed at generating employment for women, including the establishment of rice mills, petrol pumps, and women-operated supermarkets. These ventures, she noted, are designed to position women as wealth creators and enhance household incomes across the state.
Seethakka underscored that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy remains focused on advancing women's empowerment at the grassroots level. She also announced that women self-help groups would launch solar energy plants in Madhira constituency on Wednesday, with Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka presiding over the inauguration.
Additionally, the minister disclosed that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy plans to distribute RTC buses to women on June 5. Seethakka called upon women to display their accomplishments and play an active role in the state's development trajectory.
