Hyderabad: Members of the journalism fraternity in Mulugu district have received commitments of governmental assistance from state Minister Dr Danasari Anasuya, commonly referred to as Seethakka, at a gathering held on Friday.

The Minister graced the second district-level gathering organized by the Telangana State Union of Working Journalists (TSUWJ) at the DLR Function Hall in Mulugu's district headquarters. District TSUWJ president Shafi facilitated the proceedings.

In her address, Seethakka underscored the indispensable nature of journalism as an institution within both the nation and the state. She pledged her commitment to tackling the various difficulties encountered by working journalists operating within Mulugu and throughout Telangana.

The Minister characterized Mulugu as a particularly advantageous location for journalists to pursue their profession. She pointed to the district's distinctive position owing to its rich cultural legacy and environmental significance. Seethakka highlighted the district's abundant forest cover, architectural monuments from the Kakatiya period, and extensive water bodies as defining features.

Given these characteristics, Seethakka emphasized the considerable prospects for tourism development in the region. She acknowledged the role played by media professionals in publicizing tourism initiatives on the global stage.

Moving forward, the Minister outlined her vision for elevating Mulugu district's standing across various sectors. Among her specific pledges were efforts to establish an independent press club and distribute residential plots to journalists. Additionally, she announced the government's readiness to extend Indiramma housing schemes to economically disadvantaged members of the journalism profession.

Seethakka extended an invitation to journalists to bring their grievances and concerns directly to her attention.

The event saw participation from District Library Chairman Banoth Ravichander, Market Committee Chairperson Rekha Kalyani, and District Rice Millers Association president Badam Praveen. TSUWJ state general secretary Ram Narayan attended alongside district-level officials Gadapalli Madhu and Kankanala Santosh. Several district committee members and journalists representing various news organizations across the district were also present.
