Hyderabad Launches Comprehensive Child Welfare Programme at Kachiguda

Hyderabad: On Thursday, Minister Danasari Anasuya Seethakka unveiled a comprehensive suite of child welfare facilities in Kachiguda aimed at strengthening support systems for vulnerable children and mothers. The programme encompassed three key initiatives: an Adoption Helping Desk and Foster Care Center established at Kachiguda Railway Station, alongside a Breastfeeding Kiosk at Kachiguda Bus Station.

The launch event brought together senior officials including Amberpet MLA Kaleru Venkatesh, Collector Priyanka Ala, Women and Child Welfare Secretary Anita Ramachandran, Director Shruti Ojha, and various government representatives.

Speaking at the inauguration, Seethakka characterised these initiatives as embodying the administration's dedication to protecting maternal dignity and ensuring family security. "A child's smile is the true measure of development," she remarked, underscoring the philosophical foundation of the programme.

The Adoption Helping Desk represents a dedicated support mechanism for children lacking family care. The facility will extend legal guidance, psychological counselling, and comprehensive information to prospective families. Seethakka clarified that adoption constitutes not an act of charity but rather a fresh opportunity for a child to build a life within a family structure. She cautioned that the government would enforce stringent measures against irregular adoption practices, with officials maintaining rigorous oversight of all proceedings.

Addressing the Foster Care Center, the Minister acknowledged that not all children secure permanent family placements immediately. She argued that temporary care environments remain vital in providing children with hope and emotional stability during transitions.

The Breastfeeding Kiosk initiative focuses on creating safe, dignified spaces for lactating mothers utilising public facilities. Seethakka highlighted that positioning such amenities in high-traffic locations represents meaningful progress. She indicated the government's intention to replicate these facilities across additional locations throughout the region.

These interventions mark their inaugural implementation within the state, according to Seethakka. The government is simultaneously prioritising children's psychological wellbeing through a partnership with the Roshni Center, which will deliver counselling and therapeutic services targeting enhanced confidence and overall development in children.

The Minister positioned these efforts within the government's broader 99-Day Action Plan, emphasising that incremental steps can generate transformative outcomes. "When we work together for a child's smile, that is true development," she concluded.
