Railway Women's Organisation Hosts Seminar on Environmental Sustainability and Resource Management

Hyderabad's Secunderabad Division hosted a comprehensive seminar on environmental conservation initiatives, bringing together railway officials and community representatives to discuss pressing sustainability challenges.
The event, organised by the South Central Railway Women's Welfare Organisation (SCRWWO), took place at Sanchalan Bhavan on Friday and centred on three key areas: rainwater harvesting techniques, groundwater recharge methods, and solid waste management protocols at railway facilities.
Dr. R. Gopalakrishnan, the Secunderabad Division's Divisional Railway Manager, served as chief guest and emphasised the critical role of sustainable practices within railway operations. He underscored the necessity of implementing water conservation measures and adopting scientific approaches to waste management across all railway installations.

She noted that achieving lasting environmental sustainability hinges on shared responsibility and ongoing conservation initiatives.
The seminar featured technical presentations from Dr. Kiran Kumar and Dr. Aarati Bhandare, who outlined practical methodologies for groundwater recharge and environmentally sound waste disposal systems at railway stations.
