South Central Railway Chief Reviews Safety Measures Ahead of Intense Summer Season

Hyderabad — South Central Railway's General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava held a high-level operational review meeting on Monday at Rail Nilayam to examine the zone's readiness for managing train services during the intense summer months ahead.

The gathering brought together senior railway leadership, including Additional General Manager Satya Prakash and Divisional Railway Managers representing the Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur, Secunderabad, Hyderabad, and Nanded divisions. The agenda centered on maintaining safe and uninterrupted train operations as extreme heat conditions intensify across the region.

During the proceedings, Srivastava emphasized the critical importance of reinforcing railway tracks and ensuring adequate ballast placement. He mandated strict compliance with established summer safety protocols throughout all operating divisions, underscoring that adherence to these measures would be essential during the challenging months ahead.

A significant component of the review addressed the welfare of railway personnel working under hazardous conditions. The General Manager instructed divisional heads to furnish track workers with appropriate protective equipment and ensure consistent access to drinking water and oral rehydration solution packets. These provisions aim to mitigate heat-related health risks among staff deployed in the field.

Beyond worker safety, the meeting examined fire prevention systems installed across the rolling stock. Srivastava directed officials to accelerate the deployment of closed-circuit television cameras at strategic points throughout the network to strengthen surveillance capabilities and facilitate rapid response to emergencies.

The General Manager also highlighted the necessity of installing protective barriers at locations identified as vulnerable to trespassing incidents. He instructed officials to expedite the completion of ongoing safety enhancement projects while maintaining heightened operational vigilance across the South Central Railway network.

The review reflected the railway administration's commitment to safeguarding both passengers and staff during the peak summer season, ensuring service continuity across its extensive operational footprint.
