SCCL Opens Advanced Cardiac Catheterization Lab at Ramagundam Hospital

Hyderabad: A new cardiac catheterization laboratory has been commissioned at Ramagundam-I Area Hospital in Godavarikhani by the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), marking a significant expansion of specialised healthcare infrastructure in the region's coal mining areas.

The facility comes as a critical addition to medical services in Godavarikhani, home to approximately 33,000 SCCL employees. Beyond serving the company's workforce and pensioners, the centre will extend coverage to populations across Peddapalli, Mancherial, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad and Jayashankar Bhupalpally districts.

Addressing Critical Care Gaps

Previously, patients needing advanced cardiac interventions faced lengthy journeys to medical centres in Hyderabad, Karimnagar, Warangal and surrounding areas—a situation that frequently resulted in dangerous delays during time-sensitive cardiac emergencies. The establishment of this facility directly addresses this geographical barrier to emergency treatment.

Medical professionals emphasise the importance of the "Golden Hour"—the critical initial period following a cardiac event when immediate intervention can substantially improve patient survival outcomes. The new laboratory enables such interventions to be delivered locally without the loss of time previously incurred through transfers.

Kiran Raj Kumar, Chief Medical Officer at SCCL, highlighted that the facility represents a commitment to bringing life-saving cardiac care within closer reach of patients. He indicated confidence that the centre's capacity to deliver emergency interventions during this crucial window would translate into improved survival rates across the region.

The establishment of this cardiac catheterization facility reflects SCCL's broader strategy to strengthen healthcare delivery for its workforce while simultaneously enhancing specialised medical services throughout the coal belt region.
