Railway Board Chief Inspects Kazipet Manufacturing Unit and Key Infrastructure Projects

Hyderabad: Satish Kumar, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Railway Board, undertook a comprehensive inspection tour on Sunday to assess progress across multiple railway facilities in the South Central Railway zone.
The visit commenced at Kazipet Railway Station, where Kumar examined the Amrit Station redevelopment initiative and passenger facilities. He then toured the Railway Manufacturing Unit under construction at Kazipet, a project carrying an estimated budget of ₹597.68 crore. Accompanying him were South Central Railway General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, Secunderabad Divisional Railway Manager Dr. R. Gopalakrishnan, and other senior officials.
Representatives from Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) presented details of the facility through a site model and comprehensive briefing. The manufacturing unit is designed to produce and service modern rolling stock and contemporary railway coaches. During the inspection, Kumar visited the primary production facility, bogie workshop, paint facility, wheel workshop, and testing area. He subsequently addressed media personnel regarding the project's advancement and anticipated outcomes.
From Kazipet, Kumar conducted an inspection from the rear carriage en route to Charlapalli, during which he examined ongoing improvements and passenger amenities at Jangaon Railway Station.
Upon arrival at Charlapalli Rail Terminal, Kumar reviewed the railway infrastructure including tracks, points, crossings, and yard facilities. He held discussions with track maintenance personnel and workers to gain insights into their operational responsibilities and field conditions.
The itinerary included a visit to the Indian Railways Institute of Signal Engineering and Telecommunications (IRISET) and its Centre of Excellence. Officials presented demonstrations of KAVACH, India's domestically developed automatic train protection system designed to prevent collisions. Kumar examined briefing materials detailing the rollout of this safety technology across the Indian Railways network.
The inspection concluded at Rail Nilayam, the South Central Railway headquarters, where Kumar conducted a performance evaluation meeting with senior railway management. The session featured a comprehensive review of operational metrics and infrastructure development initiatives across the zone.
