Santoshnagar Traffic Police Launch Safety Campaign Targeting Impaired Driving Among School Transport Operators

Hyderabad's Santoshnagar Traffic Police have initiated focused enforcement operations to combat drunk driving among school bus and auto drivers, prioritising child safety during school commutes.

The special safety initiative was carried out at IS Sadan Junction on Thursday, with officers inspecting school transport vehicles to ensure drivers were not operating under the influence of alcohol. The drive was conducted under the directives of senior police leadership and aimed at mitigating risks posed by impaired driving in school transport operations.

During the enforcement action, traffic personnel examined school buses and autos in the area, focusing on verifying driver sobriety and compliance with safety protocols. Beyond inspection, officers engaged with drivers on traffic regulations, road safety best practices, and the critical importance of responsible vehicle operation when transporting students.

"Student safety is our paramount concern," authorities emphasised, warning drivers against alcohol consumption before operating school transport vehicles. The department stressed that all traffic regulations must be strictly adhered to when ferrying children.

Inspector Mohammad Asif of Santoshnagar Traffic Police indicated that such specialised checks would become a regular feature of the department's enforcement calendar. "We are committed to strengthening safety standards in school transportation," he stated.

Police have appealed to transport operators and the general public to support these safety initiatives. Officials believe that sustained inspections combined with public awareness programmes will create a safer environment for schoolchildren travelling to and from educational institutions.
