AICC Secretary Sampath Kumar Takes Legal Action Against BRS Leaders Over Defamation Claims

Hyderabad — In a significant legal development, AICC Secretary Sampath Kumar has initiated defamation proceedings against prominent Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) figures K. T. Rama Rao and T. Harish Rao, alleging they orchestrated a campaign of false and damaging statements against him.
The petition was submitted to the special court designated for public representatives at Nampally. The case also names Manne Krishank, the editorial board of Namasthe Telangana newspaper, and the Telugu Scribe social media account as respondents.
According to Kumar, the defamation centers on allegations that he sought ₹8 crore from a construction contractor—claims he categorically denies as entirely fabricated and made with malicious intent.
Kumar further contended that Harish Rao had previously attempted to entice him into defecting from Congress by offering him ₹30 crore. He emphasized his unwavering commitment to Congress principles and ideology.
Describing the accusations as entirely without foundation, Kumar stated that he pursued the legal route to remedy the damage to his standing and to combat the spread of false information. He underscored the importance of safeguarding his reputation through judicial intervention.
The case is anticipated to be heard in the coming weeks. The court is expected to scrutinize the allegations presented by Kumar and evaluate the responses submitted by the respondents. Political observers anticipate the proceedings may generate considerable attention given the prominence of those involved.
