Congress Leader Urges Union Minister to Surrender Son in POCSO Investigation

Hyderabad: In a pointed challenge to Union Minister Bandi Sanjay, Congress media communication chairman Sama Ram Mohan Reddy has demanded that the minister's son be handed over to police authorities in relation to an active POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) investigation.
Speaking to journalists at Gandhi Bhavan, Reddy acknowledged the minister's public assertion that his son should face legal consequences if the evidence warrants it. However, he argued that such statements would ring hollow without concrete action.
"The minister now has the chance to demonstrate his commitment to justice by extending full cooperation to investigators," Reddy stated, pressing for the accused to be produced before law enforcement officials.
Reddy also turned his attention to broader political dynamics surrounding the case. He challenged opposition parties to explain their allegations that the Telangana government was shielding the accused from accountability. Pointing to the state government's action against actor Allu Arjun, he contended that the Revanth Reddy administration would not show leniency to anyone engaged in criminal activity.
The Congress leader further alleged that certain BJP and BRS (Bharat Rashtra Samithi) leaders were lending support to the Union Minister amid the controversy. Reddy expressed concern that the accused's family might leverage their political connections to compromise the integrity of the investigation.
Reddy's demands escalated to include a call for Bandi Sanjay to step down from his ministerial position to facilitate unobstructed cooperation with the probe. He also referenced growing dissent within the BJP against the Karimnagar MP, suggesting internal party friction over the matter.
Concluding his remarks, Reddy posed a rhetorical question to observers: if someone were truly innocent, why would they hesitate to face investigative scrutiny?
