GHMC Commissioner Reviews Census House Listing Drive in Hyderabad

Hyderabad's municipal administration is moving ahead with its Census House Listing Operation, with senior officials closely monitoring progress on the ground. On Monday, GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan visited the ongoing survey work at NBT Nagar in Banjara Hills to assess implementation standards and ensure data accuracy.
The inspection included B Santosh, Zonal Commissioner and Additional Principal Census Officer, who accompanied Karnan during the site visit. Both officials spent time observing enumerators and supervision teams as they carried out their fieldwork.
During the visit, Karnan reviewed the methodologies being employed for house enumeration and demographic information gathering. He set a completion deadline of June 9, 2026 for the entire operation and underscored three key principles—transparency, accuracy, and commitment—as essential to a successful census exercise.
Addressing the broader significance of the effort, Karnan noted that the census data collected would serve as a foundation for government planning, particularly in designing welfare programmes and infrastructure development initiatives.
To maximize coverage and data quality, Karnan instructed field teams to guarantee that every household in the survey area participates in the process. He also called on residents to actively support enumerators by providing truthful and complete responses.
The commissioner tasked deputy commissioners with facilitating coordination between municipal departments and census teams. Additionally, he directed officials to deploy field-level personnel—including bill collectors and tax inspectors—to support smooth execution of the operation across all zones.
