TGSRTC Chief Issues Stern Warning After Nalgonda Driver Assault

Hyderabad — Following a violent altercation with an RTC driver in Nalgonda district, the Managing Director of TGSRTC has pledged zero tolerance for assaults on transport staff and promised stringent legal action against perpetrators.
Y Nagireddy stated that the corporation remains committed to protecting its workforce, who provide continuous service to the public. He made clear that individuals who resort to violence against RTC personnel would face the full force of the law.
The warning came in response to an incident that unfolded on Sunday morning in Nalgonda Rural police limits. Driver Thalla Ram Kumar was operating a Pallevelugu service when he made a scheduled stop near Arjalabavi village. A man named Tupakula Venkatesham arrived at the location on a motorcycle and initiated a confrontation with the driver.
The dispute centered on bus route procedures. Venkatesham objected to the driver's decision to halt only at designated stops rather than at intermediate points. When the driver explained the standard operating procedures, Venkatesham responded with abusive language.
The situation escalated when Venkatesham boarded the vehicle, forcibly pulled the driver from his seat, and subjected him to a physical beating. The driver sustained injuries above his right eye and on his knee as a result of the assault.
Police registered a formal complaint based on the driver's account. Nalgonda Rural police station, under SI Saida Babu, filed charges against Venkatesham under relevant legal provisions pertaining to obstruction of a public servant in the discharge of duty.
Nagireddy reaffirmed the corporation's commitment to standing alongside its employees and treating staff safety as a paramount concern. He underscored that every incident of violence against RTC workers would be met with rigorous legal prosecution.
