RTC Bus Overturns on NH-44; Over 30 Injured in Wanaparthy District Incident

Hyderabad: An accident on National Highway-44 near Rangapur in Wanaparthy district left more than 30 passengers injured when a TGSRTC Express bus overturned on Monday morning. The vehicle, operating from the Wanaparthy depot on a route between Kurnool and Wanaparthy, was carrying approximately 50 passengers at the time of the incident.

State Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has initiated a comprehensive inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the accident. The minister engaged with the District Collector, Superintendent of Police, and senior RTC officials to assess the situation and requested a detailed report on the cause of the mishap.

Local motorists and residents responded quickly to the emergency, assisting in the rescue of stranded passengers. Those injured were transported to Pebberu Government Hospital for medical care. Hospital staff reported that the majority of passengers sustained minor injuries and received first aid treatment, with their conditions being monitored continuously.

Minister Prabhakar commended the swift action taken by RTC employees, police personnel, and ambulance teams during the rescue operation. He instructed officials to provide regular updates on the health status of the injured and directed RTC management to implement enhanced safety measures to prevent such incidents from recurring.

Law enforcement authorities registered a case and initiated a formal investigation into the accident. The overturned bus caused temporary traffic congestion on NH-44, though normal vehicular movement was restored after the vehicle was removed from the roadway.
