RPF's Operation Nanhe Farishte Rescues 120 Children in April

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) operating under the South Central Railway successfully rescued 120 children in April 2026 through Operation Nanhe Farishte, a pan-India initiative designed to locate and protect vulnerable children who find themselves alone or in distress while using railway services.
According to official reports, the rescued cohort comprised 96 boys and 24 girls. Following their rescue, all children were transferred to Child Welfare Committees, which assumed responsibility for their ongoing care and rehabilitation.
The child rescue operation formed part of a broader security push by the RPF during the month, which encompassed multiple targeted enforcement campaigns across the railway network.
Operation Yatri Suraksha resulted in 79 arrests and the recovery of stolen goods valued at Rs 54.52 lakh. In a parallel initiative, Operation Amanat successfully reunited 319 passengers with lost belongings worth Rs 83.35 lakh.
Drug enforcement efforts under Operation Narcos yielded the confiscation of ganja worth Rs 86.17 lakh, with 16 individuals arrested in connection with the illegal narcotics trade on trains.
The RPF also prioritised action against human trafficking, with Operation AAHT leading to the rescue of five boys and the apprehension of two suspected traffickers. Separately, Operation Satark resulted in the seizure of contraband liquor valued at Rs 2.47 lakh that was being transported via rail.
Ticketing fraud received attention through Operation Uplabdh, which generated 24 cases against unauthorised ticket sellers and led to 26 arrests.
Additional security measures, including CCTV-assisted investigations, facilitated the recovery of stolen passenger belongings worth Rs 26.65 lakh. Under Operation Rail Suraksha, officials identified 36 incidents of railway property theft amounting to Rs 6.03 lakh in losses.
