RMZ Foundation Backs Indian Artists at Venice Biennale 2026

April 28, 2026

The RMZ Foundation has announced backing for the participation of multimedia performance artists Himali Singh Soin and David Soin Tappeser, performing as the duo Hylozoic/Desires, at the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia. The prestigious Venice showcase, curated by Koyo Kouoh, will preview from May 6-8, 2026, before opening to the public on May 9 through November 22, 2026.

The artists' participation is supported jointly by RMZ Foundation, Avtar Foundation, and Foundation Henraux.

La Biennale di Venezia holds recognition as one of the world's most significant venues for contemporary art, consistently positioning itself as a leading platform for investigating and promoting artistic practices that shape important cultural conversations across different regions and communities. The selection of Himali Singh Soin and David Soin Tappeser by the late curator Koyo Kouoh underscores the rising global visibility of their multidisciplinary artistic approach.

Anu Menda, Chair of RMZ Foundation, commented on the artists' invitation: "The 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia under Koyo Kouoh's direction represents a paramount venue for contemporary artistic dialogue. RMZ Foundation champions bringing India's diverse creative expressions—spanning from traditional crafts to contemporary innovation—to international stages, enabling artists to develop, take creative risks, and participate through prestigious platforms such as Venice. Our ongoing partnership with Himali Singh Soin and David Soin Tappeser embodies our dedication to sustained artistic collaboration. We anticipate their contributions at the Biennale will strengthen meaningful exchanges that transcend cultural and geographical divides."

The foundation's relationship with the artists extends beyond the Venice exhibition. RMZ Foundation previously supported Salt Lines, the artists' inaugural institutional solo presentation in India, which was held at the Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum in Mumbai. This sustained involvement illustrates RMZ Foundation's broader mission to increase opportunities for public engagement with art, facilitate cross-cultural exchange, and champion artistic endeavours that reshape cultural understanding across borders.
