Telangana CM Directs Push on Revenue Collection to Meet Budget Goals

Hyderabad — Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has issued instructions to state officials to strengthen revenue collection mechanisms and achieve the financial targets outlined in the State Budget. During a high-level review meeting conducted at the MCR HRD Institute on Wednesday, he emphasised the need for continuous oversight of revenue generation and improved financial administration.

The Chief Minister stressed that departments must focus on plugging revenue leakages and establish a dedicated cell to monitor collections closely. He underscored the importance of vigilant financial management across all government operations.

Focus on key revenue sources

Revanth Reddy specifically directed officials to concentrate on revenue generation from the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) and the Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC). He also instructed departments to address leakages in commercial taxes, excise, mining, and other revenue channels.

A dedicated monitoring cell will be created to strengthen collection efforts, with officials warned against complacency in revenue mobilisation and resource generation.

Budget planning and realistic projections

The Chief Minister called on every department to strengthen its operational efficiency to meet expected performance levels. He instructed departments to formulate realistic budgets based on actual pending projects and planned future works, rather than relying on assumptions.

Revanth Reddy prioritised land acquisition for infrastructure development and insisted that budget estimates reflect ground realities. He assured officials that the government would extend necessary support to help departments accomplish their financial and developmental targets.

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Ministers N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and Jupally Krishna Rao, Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju, Adviser K. Ramakrishna Rao, and other senior officials participated in the meeting.
