Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has ordered a comprehensive upgrade of facilities at the Telangana Legislative Assembly, aiming to bring the complex to standards comparable with Parliament.

The directive came during a review meeting held at the Assembly with Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukender Reddy and Assembly Speaker G. Prasad Kumar, where Revanth Reddy outlined his vision for enhancing the premises.

Modernisation aligned with Parliament standards

The Chief Minister instructed officials to redesign the Assembly premises following the model of Parliament, emphasising that such improvements would reinforce the stature of elected representatives. He highlighted the importance of member privacy during legislative sessions, directing officials to establish a Central Hall ahead of the next Assembly session. This facility would function similarly to Parliament's Central Hall.

Revanth Reddy also proposed the creation of a dedicated Members' Club on the premises and asked officials to initiate work on this initiative immediately.

Balancing heritage with contemporary amenities

While pushing for modernisation, the Chief Minister stressed the need to safeguard the heritage character of both the existing Assembly and the old Council buildings. He instructed authorities to ensure that development activities do not compromise the historical integrity of these structures.

Beyond the Central Hall and Members' Club, the Chief Minister called for additional recreational and wellness facilities. These include a walking track and sports amenities for members within the complex boundaries.

Enhanced security measures

Revanth Reddy also directed authorities to strengthen security infrastructure across the entire Assembly complex, underscoring that robust security protocols are vital for uninterrupted legislative operations.
