Telangana Sets Ambitious Target to Create One Crore Women Millionaires by 2034

Telangana's Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has set an ambitious target to establish one crore women millionaires by 2034, leveraging an array of women empowerment schemes designed to serve as a national template.
Addressing the Women's Week celebrations held under the Praja Palana–Pragati Plan initiative, Revanth Reddy articulated a vision where economic independence for women translates into strengthened families, robust villages, and ultimately, a prosperous state. "If women become economically self-reliant, the family stands strong; if the family stands strong, the village is strengthened; and if the village is strengthened, Telangana prospers," he stated.
The government has doubled the bank linkage loan ceiling for women's self-help groups, raising the limit from ₹5 lakh to ₹10 lakh. To date, the state has extended bank-linked credit totalling ₹60,472 crore to these groups, with an additional ₹1,390 crore distributed as interest-free loans.
From the Secretariat, Revanth Reddy virtually inaugurated the foundation stone for 8,000 Indira Gandhi Stree Shakti Bhavans spread across Telangana. These facilities will function as permanent hubs for training, business planning, and economic activities operated by women's collectives.
The Chief Minister encouraged women's groups to graduate beyond subsistence-level enterprises and venture into larger-scale operations. He recommended establishing rice mills, warehouses, and logistics parks at the mandal level, with the government prepared to allocate land and up to 100 acres where necessary.
A cornerstone of the initiative is the proposed establishment of "Mahila Shakti Super Bazars" operating on a corporate model. These bazars, to be run by women's self-help groups, are intended to rival established retail chains such as DMart and Big Bazaar. Urban land will be leased at concessional rates to facilitate these projects.
The announcement also encompassed a scheme enabling women's groups to procure buses and lease them to the Regional Transport Corporation. Revanth Reddy confirmed that 553 buses would be inaugurated on June 5 at Parade Grounds.
During the event, the Chief Minister unveiled four new designs of the parrot-green Indiramma Sarees and highlighted success stories from across the state. Members of the Narayanpet Women's Federation shared that their petrol bunk operations have generated approximately ₹27 lakh in earnings. Revanth Reddy acknowledged that women's groups are currently generating monthly incomes ranging from ₹4 lakh to ₹5 lakh through diverse business activities.
He particularly commended women's groups under the Nirmal District Federation for maintaining a 100 percent loan repayment rate, directing the district collector to allocate prime road-facing land for establishing an additional petrol bunk for the federation.
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, along with Ministers Seethakka, Sridhar Babu, and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, attended the programme alongside senior officials and public representatives.
