Hyderabad — During an interaction at the State Secretariat's ground floor on Thursday, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy outlined plans for a sweeping overhaul of housing provisions for journalists across Telangana, emphasizing that the scheme would encompass the entire eligible journalist community rather than select organisations.

The Chief Minister stressed that the forthcoming policy would eliminate the current practice of allocating plots through housing societies. Instead, the government intends to distribute residential sites directly to qualifying journalists on an individual basis throughout the state.

When pressed by journalists regarding those without housing society membership, Revanth Reddy assured them that such individuals would not face exclusion. He underscored the administration's commitment to designing an equitable and transparent mechanism for site distribution.

"I will personally look into how house sites should be allotted to journalists. Leave it to me," the Chief Minister stated, signalling his direct involvement in the matter.

The announcement arrives amid growing discourse within journalism circles about housing entitlements and the criteria for eligibility. Media professionals have increasingly voiced concerns about access to housing benefits and the procedures governing allotments, particularly for those operating outside established society frameworks.

Revanth Reddy's commitment to uniform treatment reflects the government's acknowledgment that housing assistance should reach all practising journalists meeting the requisite qualifications, addressing long-standing grievances about unequal access based on organisational affiliations.
