Telangana Opens New Apollo Hospital Facility as Part of Medical Tourism Push

Hyderabad's healthcare landscape expanded on Monday with the opening of Apollo Hospital of Gratitude at the Financial District. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy led the inauguration ceremony, joined by Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha and senior officials from Apollo Hospitals.
Revanth Reddy used the occasion to highlight Apollo's four-decade legacy in healthcare. The hospital chain, which established its first facility in Chennai 46 years ago, has become synonymous with quality medical services across India. The Chief Minister credited Dr. Prathap C. Reddy with pioneering modern healthcare practices in the country, noting how the Apollo brand has earned widespread public confidence.
The state government has positioned the new facility as part of a broader strategy to transform Hyderabad into a premier destination for medical tourism. Revanth Reddy outlined plans to seek direct flight connectivity from Middle Eastern countries to facilitate patient transport. The administration is also developing an international Health City and working with airport authorities on a green channel system to expedite patient movement from the airport to healthcare facilities.
Hyderabad's existing strengths in pharmaceuticals and healthcare infrastructure underscore its readiness for this expansion. The city played a significant role in COVID-19 vaccine production and currently manufactures close to 40 percent of India's bulk drugs, providing a solid foundation for the medical tourism initiative.
The Chief Minister praised the Apollo Hospitals management for maintaining rigorous standards in healthcare delivery and contributing meaningfully to society. He characterised Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha's approach to public health as that of a "social doctor" dedicated to welfare-oriented governance.
Revanth Reddy assured the healthcare sector of government backing and emphasized that Telangana offers a stable investment climate. He called on investors to consider the state's opportunities, citing its emergence as a preferred hub for both business and healthcare sector investments. The new hospital's opening reflects the state's determination to strengthen its healthcare capacity and global competitiveness.
