Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Calls for Immediate Fuel Price Rollback

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has called for an immediate rollback of fuel prices following the Centre's decision to raise petrol and diesel rates nationwide. He characterized the move as a fundamental breach of public confidence.
In remarks posted on social media, Revanth Reddy stressed that the price increase has dealt a severe blow to ordinary citizens. He contended that the Modi government leveraged the Iran-Israel conflict as justification for the fuel price hike, further straining households already grappling with escalating living costs.
Electoral Promises and Timing
The Chief Minister pointed out that the Centre had repeatedly pledged to voters that fuel prices would remain stable ahead of recent elections held across four states and one Union Territory. Yet the government raised prices within just ten days of the election results, which Revanth Reddy characterized as a clear betrayal of voter trust.
Broader Economic Concerns
Beyond the immediate fuel issue, Revanth Reddy launched a wider critique of the Centre's economic stewardship. He argued that India's economy has deteriorated due to inadequate governance and misguided policy decisions. The rupee has depreciated substantially over the past decade, he noted, while the government's "Atmanirbhar Bharat" initiative remains merely a campaign slogan rather than a substantive reality.
Small and medium enterprises have borne the brunt of these economic headwinds, Revanth Reddy asserted, with young people facing declining employment prospects. He questioned how the government could claim credit for making India the world's third-largest economy under such circumstances.
Revanth Reddy reiterated his demand that the Centre withdraw the increased petrol and diesel prices without delay.
