Telangana CM Announces Major Relief Package for Government Employees

Hyderabad: In a significant move addressing long-standing employee grievances, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy unveiled a comprehensive package of measures for Telangana government employees on Saturday. The announcements include the rollout of health cards by June 1 and the settlement of Rs. 6,000 crore in pending retirement dues within a 100-day timeframe.
The Chief Minister held extensive discussions with leaders of the Employees JAC to address outstanding demands. Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka participated in the deliberations.
Among the key directives issued, Revanth Reddy instructed the Pay Revision Commission to expedite submission of its report, signalling the government's readiness to proceed with salary revision decisions upon receipt of the recommendations.
The Chief Minister proposed that employee unions establish a regular engagement mechanism, meeting every two months to review employee-related matters and submit periodic reports to the administration.
Welfare Commitments and Implementation Progress
Highlighting the government's commitment to employee welfare, Revanth Reddy recalled that ensuring timely salary disbursement on the first of each month was among the initial priorities after the Congress government assumed office.
The Chief Minister acknowledged the contributions of government employees in executing welfare initiatives and development projects throughout the state. He noted that teacher transfers were executed in an organized manner, minimizing disruptions.
Revanth Reddy confirmed that health cards would be distributed to all employees commencing June 1, while employee unions would have a say in determining how the Rs. 6,000 crore retirement dues would be allocated and distributed.
Since assuming power, the government has undertaken recruitment of 67,760 employees across various departments, the Chief Minister stated.
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka emphasized the government's objective to settle all outstanding bills by June 2, coinciding with Telangana Formation Day. He attributed the accumulation of pending liabilities to the tenure of the previous BRS administration and underscored the current government's systematic approach to resolving these arrears.
Employee Unions Call Off Protests
Expressing satisfaction with the government's commitments, leaders of the Employees JAC announced the withdrawal of dharnas and other protest demonstrations that had been scheduled for May 5 and subsequent dates.
The meeting was attended by Employees JAC Chairman M. Jagadish, TEJAC Chairman Lachireddy, and representatives from various employee unions.
