Revanth Reddy Mandates Centralized Procurement System for Student Supplies

Hyderabad — In a move to overhaul how educational materials reach students, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has issued directives to establish a centralized procurement mechanism for supplying essential goods to institutions falling under the Education, BC, Minority, Tribal Welfare, and SC Development departments.
At a review meeting held on Thursday, Revanth Reddy emphasized that timely provision of uniforms, notebooks, and related items enables students to concentrate on their education without disruption. The new system addresses longstanding inefficiencies that arose when individual departments managed procurement independently, leading to inconsistent delivery schedules and supply gaps.
Quality Assurance and Accountability Framework
The Chief Minister stressed that the centralized approach will strengthen oversight and prevent the irregularities that plagued previous supply chains. Officials have been instructed to maintain rigorous quality benchmarks across all materials, encompassing notebooks, school bags, bedsheets, crockery, drinking glasses, identity cards, and athletic wear.
Revanth Reddy made clear that lapses in the supply of these items will not be overlooked, warning authorities to enforce strict compliance. The government has set June 15 as the deadline for completing distribution across all institutions, with immediate payment settlement upon confirmed delivery.
Ground-Level Monitoring and Coordination
To ensure effective execution, the Chief Minister has mandated the appointment of nodal officers at the mandal level who will oversee supplies reaching schools and residential facilities in rural areas. These officers will document the distribution process through photographic and video records, verifying that every student receives the complete set of required materials.
Departments have been tasked with gathering direct feedback from students regarding the quality and practical utility of supplied items, with satisfaction assessments to be monitored systematically. Additionally, Revanth Reddy has ordered the establishment of a coordination committee comprising representatives from the Education department and welfare agencies to facilitate seamless implementation of the centralized system.
Senior officials present at the meeting included Government Advisor P. Sudarshan Reddy, MP Vem Narender Reddy, and various senior secretaries.
