Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Dismisses BRS as Politically Defunct

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy delivered a scathing assessment of the BRS on Monday, describing it as a lifeless political force with no viable prospects in Telangana's political landscape.

During informal remarks to journalists at the Assembly premises, the Chief Minister suggested that the BRS faces an uncertain future and that discussions about successor parties hold minimal significance given the parent organization's precarious position.

Revanth Reddy characterized BRS president and former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao as his political rival rather than a personal adversary. "He is my political competitor, but not my enemy," the Chief Minister stated.

The remarks came as Revanth Reddy commented on the evolving political situation in Telangana, including the emergence of the Telangana Rashtra Sena, a new political outfit established by former MLC Kavitha.

Drawing on a metaphor to illustrate his point, Revanth Reddy said that when circumstances that give rise to an entity cease to exist, the entity's relevance naturally diminishes. He elaborated: "No matter how beautifully a corpse is presented, it will not come back to life," suggesting this reflected the BRS's current political standing.

The Chief Minister attributed the party's decline to its governance approach during its time in power. He noted that while citizens had demonstrated patience during the Telangana movement, such tolerance did not extend into the post-statehood period.

Revanth Reddy contended that a decade of rule had bred complacency within the BRS leadership, ultimately contributing to the party's defeat in the 2023 Assembly elections. Subsequent electoral contests have yielded even more dismal results for the party, he noted, indicating a severed connection between the electorate and the BRS-KCR family nexus.

The Chief Minister alleged that the BRS's current endeavors serve primarily family interests, and that the public would reject new political formations arising from internal family disagreements. "Water drawn from the same source does not alter its essence," he remarked, underscoring his view that such ventures would retain the same fundamental character.

Revanth Reddy stated that he harbors no ill wishes toward K. Chandrasekhar Rao's health, asserting instead that he would prefer the former Chief Minister to remain in good health, as it would facilitate political engagement.

The Chief Minister emphasized that his administration operates impartially, extending equitable treatment to all sections of the Telangana population.

Regarding the Kaleshwaram Commission report, Revanth Reddy clarified that the High Court had not mishandled the matter. Rather, he explained, the court had identified technical deficiencies and instructed authorities to withhold action pending further investigation. He indicated that appropriate measures would follow once the CBI completes its inquiry into the alleged irregularities at Kaleshwaram.
