Hyderabad: Anticipating severe weather conditions, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has issued directives to state officials to strengthen preparedness at paddy procurement centres across Telangana following forecasts of heavy rainfall in multiple districts.

The alert came after the India Meteorological Department issued an orange warning for several districts in the state. In response, the Chief Minister has instructed officials to implement a series of protective measures to safeguard stored grain and minimise losses.

Among the key directives, officials have been asked to ensure adequate tarpaulins are available at all procurement centres to shield paddy stocks from water damage. The Chief Minister has also instructed authorities to relocate tarpaulins from centres where procurement operations have concluded, redirecting them to active facilities.

To further reduce potential losses, Revanth Reddy has pressed officials to accelerate paddy procurement operations, emphasising that quicker processing would help mitigate damage during the forecasted adverse weather.

The Chief Minister has emphasised the importance of continuous weather monitoring and rapid response protocols, particularly in areas identified as vulnerable to the predicted conditions. He has cautioned residents to remain vigilant, noting that the meteorological department has warned of strong winds accompanying the expected rainfall.

Coordination between state agencies and local authorities has been underscored as essential, with the Chief Minister directing officials to maintain emergency readiness throughout the weather event.
