Telangana's Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has sounded an alert regarding dangerous heatwave conditions affecting North Telangana districts, as the India Meteorological Department forecasts severe weather ahead.

The alert came following reports of intense heat across the region, prompting the Chief Minister to order a comprehensive response from state authorities to safeguard residents during the summer months.

Emergency Measures Ordered

Officials have been instructed to guarantee sufficient supplies of oral rehydration salts (ORS), maintain steady drinking water distribution, and ensure uninterrupted electricity to households in the impacted areas. The Medical and Health Department has received directions to enhance hospital care for individuals suffering from heat-related illnesses, particularly sunstroke cases.

To address public access to water in urban zones, the Chief Minister has directed local bodies to establish Chali Vendralu—free drinking water stations—where residents can seek relief from the rising temperatures.

Public Advisory

The Chief Minister has urged citizens to exercise caution during the hot season, recommending they limit outdoor activities during afternoon hours and postpone non-essential travel when temperatures peak.

Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao has been tasked with overseeing the implementation of these measures across affected districts. District collectors have been directed to enforce safety protocols and keep watch over conditions in their respective areas as summer progresses.

These precautions follow the meteorological department's assessment of severe heatwave conditions spreading across portions of North Telangana.
