Revanth Reddy Charts Course for Congress Organisational Revival with Regular Cadre Engagement

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has unveiled a comprehensive plan to strengthen Congress party operations through regular and structured interaction with party cadres across the state.

Speaking at the Congress State Political Affairs Committee gathering held at Gandhi Bhavan on Friday, Revanth Reddy announced he would personally convene meetings with party workers at 10-day intervals. Beyond this, he committed to reserving three days each month specifically for engaging with grassroots party members.

The Chief Minister issued directives to district-in-charge ministers to conduct monthly visits to their assigned regions, with each visit encompassing a full day devoted to party organisational work. Party legislators and MPs have been instructed to allocate one day weekly for constituency engagement, while corporation heads and senior party figures are expected to maintain consistent contact with party workers.

Revanth Reddy acknowledged the contributions of Congress activists who maintained social media presence during the party's time in opposition. However, he flagged concerns about certain legislators prioritising personal advancement over party and governmental initiatives. The Chief Minister suggested structured training sessions to equip MLAs with skills for leveraging social media effectively for party communication.

Electoral Roll Revision Takes Centre Stage

A significant focus of the meeting centred on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Revanth Reddy stressed that coordinated leadership efforts would be essential for this undertaking to succeed at the polling booth level.

The Chief Minister proposed delegating Greater Hyderabad's 15 Assembly segments to Rajya Sabha members and MLCs for targeted oversight. He called for constituency-specific deliberations on the SIR process across all segments in the metropolitan area.

Revanth Reddy highlighted risks of voter deletion affecting vulnerable populations, including Lambada communities, tribal groups, migrant workers, Dalit communities, religious minorities, and women. He urged party leaders to develop comprehensive understanding of the issue and provide assistance to potentially affected voters.

The electoral roll revision exercise will encompass all 119 Assembly constituencies and 17 Lok Sabha segments across the state. The Chief Minister proposed appointing dedicated coordinators to oversee SIR implementation and suggested recruiting individuals who had previously contributed to digital membership registration initiatives.

According to party insiders, Revanth Reddy also scrutinised the pace of organisational development in Greater Hyderabad and sought clarification regarding delays in appointing polling booth representatives.
