Revanth Reddy Defends Bharat Future City Project Against BRS Opposition

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has pushed back against BRS leader T. Harish Rao's criticism of the Bharat Future City project, vowing that the state government will proceed with the ambitious urban development scheme despite mounting obstacles.

Speaking at an event in Gurramguda marking the launch of Vana Mahotsavam 2026 on Thursday, the Chief Minister stood firm in his support for the government's signature initiative and blamed the opposition of attempting to derail progress.

The state is creating a 15,000-acre forest within Bharat Future City and aiming for 60 percent green cover as a core component of the development, Revanth Reddy explained.

When addressing Harish Rao's frequent assertions that the BRS would scrap the project if returned to power, the Chief Minister turned the challenge back on the Siddipet MLA, asking him to first win his own Assembly election seat in the upcoming polls.

Revanth Reddy contended that while his government was championing environmentally sustainable development, opponents were actively resisting measures designed to boost environmental protection in the region. He expressed frustration over petitions submitted to the National Green Tribunal challenging the project's green cover expansion initiatives.

The Chief Minister stressed that Bharat Future City would move forward and continue attracting international investment, regardless of political opposition or criticism.

Turning to other governance matters, Revanth Reddy defended the HYDRAA agency, asserting it would focus on illegal encroachers rather than targeting economically disadvantaged populations.

He raised concerns about reported encroachment attempts on land designated for the Gurramguda Eco Park and noted that encroachers had also targeted religious properties in sections of Vanasthalipuram.

The Chief Minister also criticized the previous BRS administration's record on LB Nagar development, promising to resolve outstanding infrastructure and civic issues in the constituency. He reaffirmed the state government's commitment to supporting development priorities across Rangareddy district.
