Hyderabad to Explore AI-Powered Traffic Management System

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has unveiled plans to deploy artificial intelligence-based traffic signals across Hyderabad as part of efforts to ease congestion and streamline urban mobility.

The proposal aims to harness cutting-edge technology for more responsive signal operations and better traffic circulation throughout the city. The Chief Minister emphasized that AI systems could be particularly valuable during adverse weather and emergency situations, automatically adapting traffic flow during heavy rainfall and other difficult conditions.

A delegation comprising Analog Founder and Chief Executive Officer Alex Kipman and MEIL Managing Director P. Krishna Reddy met with Revanth Reddy on Wednesday at the Bodhi Pavilion of the MCR HRD Institute to discuss the initiative. The company representatives showcased a pilot initiative on intelligent traffic management and demonstrated how technology could tackle various urban infrastructure challenges.

The proposed system would leverage real-time data to dynamically adjust signal timing based on traffic density, the companies explained. Beyond traffic management, the technology could identify water leaks, optimize power distribution according to consumption patterns, and establish dedicated lanes for emergency vehicles including ambulances and fire trucks during crisis situations.

Officials highlighted that such innovations would enhance governmental service delivery, strengthen public-facing systems, and enable evidence-based planning for urban development in rapidly expanding metropolitan areas. The technology framework relies on sensor networks and robotic systems to create safer and more efficient transportation ecosystems.

Formalizing their partnership, Analog and MEIL signed a Memorandum of Understanding during the meeting. The accord seeks to deepen technical collaboration and foster infrastructure advancement driven by innovation.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Ministers N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and Jupally Krishna Rao, Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju, Advisers K. Ramakrishna Rao and B. Ajith Reddy, and Hyderabad Metro Rail's Chief Executive Officer and Additional Managing Director.
