Regeneron Establishes First International Global Capability Centre in Hyderabad

Regeneron, the global biotechnology firm, has chosen Hyderabad as the site of its inaugural Global Capability Centre (GCC) located outside the United States, Telangana's IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu announced on Tuesday.
The decision underscores Hyderabad's growing significance for the life sciences and technology sectors on the world stage, according to the minister. A delegation from Regeneron, headed by Senior Vice President Bari Kowal, held discussions with Sridhar Babu at the Dr B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat, where Memorandums of Understanding were exchanged between Kowal and Sarvesh Singh, CEO of Telangana Life Sciences.
Sridhar Babu highlighted that Hyderabad's appeal as a GCC hub stems from its robust infrastructure and availability of skilled talent. The establishment of this facility is expected to generate substantial employment opportunities for IT professionals and technology specialists across the state.
Regeneron maintains existing operations and manufacturing plants in Ireland, the United Kingdom, Germany, and the Netherlands. The new Hyderabad facility will serve as a significant operational hub for the company, with functions spanning clinical trial management, data analytics, artificial intelligence engineering, and commercial analysis, the minister noted.
The city presently houses approximately 450 Global Capability Centres, positioning it as India's second-largest destination for such facilities, having surpassed Mumbai, Delhi, and Chennai. Sridhar Babu attributed this growth to Telangana's competitive advantages in biotechnology, artificial intelligence, data sciences, and digital technology sectors.
The state administration is prioritising research, manufacturing, regulatory frameworks, and infrastructure expansion to consolidate its position. Initiatives including the expansion of Genome Valley and the planned Green Pharma City are expected to further reinforce the region's standing in life sciences. The Regeneron centre is anticipated to generate numerous high-value employment opportunities in the coming years.
Regeneron Executive Director Rajiv Onat, along with company officials and representatives from the Industries Department, participated in the meeting.
