BJP Demands Full Inquiry into Singareni Coal Scam; Alleges Government Distraction Tactics

Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao has intensified calls for a complete investigation into the alleged Singareni coal scam, claiming the Congress-led state government is attempting to shift focus by mounting attacks on BJP figures.

At a press conference held at the BJP state headquarters on Saturday, Ramchander Rao levelled charges that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has made unfounded allegations against Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy. He contended that the Chief Minister's criticism reflects apprehension that details of the purported coal scam may emerge into public view.

According to Ramchander Rao, Kishan Reddy had previously communicated with the Chief Minister requesting a thorough examination of the alleged irregularities at the coal company.

The BJP leader pointed out that while the state government maintains a 51 percent shareholding in Singareni Collieries Company Limited and the central government holds 49 percent, administrative and financial control rests entirely with the state administration.

Ramchander Rao further contended that the Telangana government continues to evade accountability on the scam while engaging in political confrontation with the BJP. He also turned his attention to deficiencies in the education system across the state.

He highlighted persistent challenges in government schools, including inadequate classroom facilities, non-functional toilets, insufficient furniture, and textbook shortages. He questioned the government's claims of rising enrollment in government schools while fundamental infrastructure gaps persist unaddressed.

The BJP leader called on the state administration to boost budgetary support for education and reinvigorate public institutions. He specifically demanded fulfillment of the promised ₹1,000 crore fund allocation to Osmania University.

Ramchander Rao also flagged deteriorating conditions in hostel facilities at the university, urging immediate remedial action. Characterizing education as a critical sector requiring priority attention, he pressed the Chief Minister to implement swift reforms to enhance both government schools and higher education institutions throughout Telangana.
