Telangana BJP Chief Accuses Mamata and Congress of Undermining Constitutional Values

Hyderabad: During a wall-writing campaign at Lalapet in Secunderabad on Wednesday, Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao launched a sharp critique against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the Congress party, contending that their actions represent an assault on democratic principles and the Constitution.

The campaign event preceded Prime Minister Narendra Modi's public gathering scheduled for May 10. Rao asserted that momentum was swinging decisively in favour of the BJP across India.

According to Rao, Banerjee's decision to remain in office despite what he characterised as an "electoral defeat" constitutes disregard for constitutional norms. He invoked Article 172 of the Constitution, arguing that holding office beyond the electoral mandate contradicts its fundamental spirit.

In a separate line of criticism, Rao trained his focus on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's public invocation of constitutional principles. Rao contended that while Gandhi frequently displays a copy of the Constitution during political campaigns, he demonstrates insufficient grasp of its actual provisions.

The BJP leader also condemned the alliance between Congress and Mamata Banerjee's party, describing it as "shameful". He further alleged that the Congress party had shifted its political messaging, transitioning from accusations of "vote theft" to claims of "seat theft" in recent political discourse.

Rao appealed to citizens to participate in Modi's rally at Parade Grounds in Secunderabad on May 10, characterising the event as a pivotal moment for political transformation in Telangana. BJP operatives have maintained their campaign momentum across the city in preparation for the Prime Minister's visit.
