Ramachandra Rao Calls for Transparency on Water-Sharing Negotiations

Hyderabad: The state BJP chief has pressed the government to make public the specifics of recent water allocation discussions held between the Chief Minister and Union Minister C.R. Patil, while demanding clarity on which irrigation schemes were part of the talks.

Speaking to journalists at the BJP state headquarters on Friday, Ramachandra Rao insisted that the government must transparently communicate Telangana's entitlement to water resources and the conclusions drawn from these negotiations. He called on state authorities to publicly detail the measures being implemented to protect the state's water interests.

The BJP leader raised alarm over two proposed water projects in neighbouring states: a 35 TMC Naveli reservoir planned in Karnataka and a 20 TMC Gundrevu project in Andhra Pradesh. Both developments, he warned, pose potential risks to Telangana's allocation of 15.9 TMC of water.

Ramachandra Rao urged the administration to eliminate ambiguity regarding these proposed undertakings and guarantee that the state's water security remains safeguarded.

In related developments, the BJP leader announced that party national president Nitin Nabin will be in Telangana from June 28 to June 30. The visit will include the inauguration of the BJP state office in Rangareddy district on Sunday, followed by virtual launches of BJP district offices across nine additional districts.
