Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy laid tributes to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi at Tank Bund in Hyderabad on his death anniversary, with numerous Congress party officials and elected representatives in attendance at the memorial programme.

During his address, Revanth Reddy called upon the central government to convene an extraordinary session of Parliament without delay to table the women's reservation bill in the Lok Sabha. He cautioned against instrumentalising women's reservations for electoral gain, while affirming that the INDIA alliance coalition stands firmly behind the proposal to guarantee 33 per cent reservation for women in legislative bodies.

The Chief Minister highlighted Rajiv Gandhi's pioneering role in establishing women's reservations within India's political framework. He urged legislative bodies across the nation to adopt women's reservation policies in alignment with the former Prime Minister's progressive vision.

Revanth Reddy characterised Rajiv Gandhi as a transformative leader who spearheaded India's technological revolution and elevated the nation's standing on the world stage. He credited the former Prime Minister with steering the country toward development through sweeping economic reforms and modernisation initiatives.

The Chief Minister also underscored Telangana's historical relationship with the Gandhi family, noting that Sonia Gandhi's intervention proved instrumental in facilitating Telangana's statehood. He expressed confidence that the Gandhi family's legacy would remain intertwined with Telangana's identity for generations to come.

Revanth Reddy concluded by affirming that his government continues to pursue development policies grounded in Rajiv Gandhi's principles and vision for the nation.
