Rajendranagar Police Equip 520 Participants with Cyber Safety Knowledge

Hyderabad: Over 500 residents have received training on digital security and fraud prevention following a cyber awareness initiative organised by Rajendranagar Zone Police at the Telangana State Institute of Rural Development.
The programme brought together 520 participants including educators, rural development administrators, and agricultural sector workers to address the growing menace of online crimes.
Deputy Commissioner of Police S. Sreenivas spearheaded the awareness drive, highlighting the various tactics employed by cybercriminals. The session covered digital arrest scams, counterfeit investment opportunities, employment-related frauds, phishing schemes, and unauthorised UPI transactions.
Attendees were instructed on protective measures for their digital transactions and informed about the national emergency helpline 1930, which victims can contact to report financial fraud. The DCP stressed that reporting within the initial hours—the "Golden Hour"—significantly enhances the possibility of recovering stolen funds.
The initiative featured participation from SCERT State Resource Persons, Mandal Parishad Development Officers, and professionals from the agriculture sector.
Expanding the safety message
In a bid to scale the impact of the awareness campaign, S. Sreenivas called upon participants to assume the role of "Cyber Safety Ambassadors" within their respective communities. He urged them to disseminate information about cybercrime prevention across schools, public institutions, and village-level networks.
Assistant Commissioner of Police T. Srinivas, Inspector M. Muthu Yadav, and Sub-Inspector S. Mallesham representing the Zonal Cyber Cell were also present during the event.
