Qatar Airways Posts QAR 7.08 Billion Profit Despite Challenging Year
DOHA – The Qatar Airways Group has reported a post-tax profit of QAR 7.08 billion (US$1.94 billion) for the financial year ending 2025/26, underscoring the airline's capacity to sustain strong performance even as the final month brought significant geopolitical challenges to the sector.
The results reflect consistent execution across passenger services, cargo operations, and network expansion throughout the year. The airline transported 41.8 million passengers while maintaining its extensive reach across global markets through its Doha hub at Hamad International Airport. Simultaneously, the cargo arm moved 1.43 million tonnes of chargeable weight, cementing its position as the world's leading international air freight operator with a 12% share of global cargo capacity.
Operationally, the airline achieved an 86% on-time performance rate, placing it among the world's five most punctual carriers and earning the Cirium Platinum Award for Operational Excellence.
Hamad Al-Khater, Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Airways Group, characterised the year as one testing the organisation's capabilities on multiple fronts. "The 2025/26 financial year demanded that we demonstrate both our highest achievements and our deepest reserves of resilience," he said. "The Group responded across every dimension—financial strength, operational excellence, enduring partnerships, and the commitment of our workforce even under intense pressure."
He highlighted the role of the airline's 57,800 employees working across more than 90 countries, noting that many managed crisis situations in the final weeks with the professionalism that defines the organisation.
"We are actively restoring our network with confidence grounded in a strengthened balance sheet, partnerships that proved their value when tested, and an organisation that has shown what it can deliver under genuine strain," Al-Khater added.
Among major developments during the year, Qatar Airways signed landmark agreements with Boeing and GE Aerospace covering the acquisition and support of up to 210 aircraft and 400 engines—among aviation's most substantial fleet commitments to date.
The airline secured its ninth consecutive Skytrax World's Best Airline award for 2025, an unmatched achievement in the industry. Its fleet of widebody aircraft now includes the world's first and largest complement of Starlink-equipped jets, offering high-speed in-flight internet across Boeing 777, Airbus A350, and Boeing 787-8 models on routes spanning long-haul and ultra-long-haul services.
Hamad International Airport, the airline's primary hub, earned Skytrax recognition as the Middle East's best airport for the eleventh consecutive year. Qatar Duty Free was separately named the world's best airport shopping experience by Skytrax for the third year running.
Looking forward, the airline is rebuilding its global schedule to reach more than 160 destinations by summer 2026, allowing passengers to connect through Doha while accessing the airline's service standards and in-flight connectivity offerings.
