Telangana's New Engineering College Launched in Husnabad with 300 Seats

Hyderabad: Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar unveiled the brochure and institutional code for Satavahana University Engineering College (SUCE) during an event at the Telangana Secretariat on Wednesday.
The minister extended his felicitations to students appearing for Telangana EAMCET and their guardians, highlighting that the new institution was established under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's administration to broaden access to technical education for students from rural areas.
According to Ponnam, the state presently operates 22 government engineering colleges alongside 157 private engineering institutions. Government colleges collectively offer 8,532 seats, whereas private institutions provide 1,18,542 seats across the state.
The college has been assigned the official code "SUCE," and the minister encouraged prospective EAMCET candidates to consider the institution during the counselling process.
Infrastructure and Academic Offerings
Ponnam emphasized that the college's infrastructure matches the standards maintained by private institutions, with permanent structures already under construction. He assured students that facility concerns need not arise during the inaugural academic year, as classes will be conducted on the premises of a well-equipped polytechnic college campus.
The institution will accommodate 300 students in its first year, with seats distributed equally—60 each—across Computer Science Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Information Technology, and Biotechnology programmes.
Facilities at the college include digital libraries, smart classrooms, computer laboratories, science labs, workshops and drawing halls. The government has allocated 36 acres for the college and sanctioned Rs 44.12 crore for construction of academic buildings and residential facilities.
Separate hostel accommodations have been arranged for male and female students, and transportation arrangements have been put in place to address student mobility needs.
Support Systems for Students
The minister outlined comprehensive support mechanisms including mentorship from experienced faculty, career guidance initiatives, placement assistance and access to specialized laboratories. He noted that rural and economically disadvantaged students would now have the opportunity to pursue BTech degrees without relocating far from their native areas.
The college plans to distribute bicycles, books and calculators to students. Additional programmes such as student induction initiatives, research awareness sessions, faculty development workshops and international conferences are in the pipeline.
Admissions for the 2026-27 academic year are currently underway, and Ponnam appealed to rural students in Telangana to take advantage of this opportunity for quality technical education.
Husnabad as Education Hub
The minister indicated that Husnabad is being developed as an educational centre serving the Karimnagar, Jangaon, Siddipet and Hanamkonda regions. Beyond the engineering college, a 250-bed hospital is under construction in the town, and a postgraduate medical college has received government approval.
Development initiatives in Husnabad also include urban forest park construction, temple enhancement projects and lake restoration efforts, which are progressing at a steady pace.
