Hyderabad — Revenue, Housing and Information & Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy has instructed district collectors to undertake weekly reviews aimed at expediting the rollout of the Indiramma housing scheme, as announced on April 27.

The initiative represents a shift toward decentralised governance, with collectors receiving expanded powers to facilitate quicker and more accountable programme delivery. The minister also announced the appointment of dedicated officers for each erstwhile district to resolve implementation challenges on the ground.

At a review session held at the Housing Corporation headquarters in Hyderabad, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy directed officials to give priority to the Indiramma scheme and establish a weekly review cadence with housing department staff.

The gathering brought together elected representatives and officials from the former Nizamabad and Adilabad districts. Attendance included in-charge ministers, MPs, MLCs, MLAs, district collectors and housing officials. Discussions proceeded on a constituency-by-constituency basis, with the minister responding to concerns raised by public representatives and issuing immediate directives to streamline execution.

The minister underscored that the Indiramma housing scheme will remain an ongoing initiative under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's administration. He clarified that eligibility to apply is not restricted to those who have previously applied—individuals who qualify can now submit applications and receive houses.

Each constituency has been allocated 3,500 sanctioned houses without political consideration, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy stated. He appealed to MLAs to take an active role in ensuring timely construction delivery.

Officials have been instructed to reassign houses when beneficiaries do not proceed with construction. The minister also ordered the immediate release of pending payments following completion of the basement stage, particularly in cases where technical impediments have caused delays.

Emphasizing a people-centric approach to welfare delivery, the minister directed officials to complete double-bedroom units initiated by the previous government and ensure they include essential services including water supply, power and sewage systems. He mandated that these units be allocated to beneficiaries immediately, irrespective of their construction status.

The review meeting was attended by Ministers Seethakka, Jupally Krishna Rao and G Vivek, as well as advisors P Sudarshan Reddy, Pocharam Srinivas Reddy and Mohammad Shabbir Ali. Senior officials D S Lokesh Kumar and V P Gautam were also present.
