Couple Abandons Children at Police Station During Marital Dispute in Karimnagar

In an alarming incident in Karimnagar district, a married couple abandoned their two children at a police station while embroiled in a serious domestic quarrel.

The situation unfolded in Thimmapur mandal when Ravi Kumar and Lalitha, residents of Allunoor village, arrived at the local police station while engaged in a heated argument. The pair, who had entered into marriage following a romantic relationship, had been living together for several years before recent disputes began to strain their relationship.

What began as mounting disagreements in recent days escalated dramatically when both arrived at the police station. As the argument continued in front of officers, the couple made a shocking decision. They declared they would not assume responsibility for their children and walked away, instructing police to care for them instead.

Before departing, Lalitha removed her mangalsutra and toe rings, leaving these items with the children as she left the station. The children, who had been with their parents throughout the ordeal, became distressed after finding themselves abandoned at the police premises.

Police Action Leads to Resolution

Officers at Thimmapur station acted swiftly upon discovering the abandoned children. Police personnel located both parents and brought them back to the station for a counseling session.

During the discussion, officers explained the legal ramifications and moral dimensions of abandoning children. They cautioned the couple that such behaviour constitutes both a crime and a violation of fundamental human decency. Officers also highlighted how abandonment could inflict lasting psychological damage on the children.

The counseling proved effective. Ravi Kumar and Lalitha came to recognise the severity of their conduct and expressed remorse for their actions. The family subsequently reunited and returned to their residence together.
