Adani Airports and MakeMyTrip Partner to Enable Duty-Free Pre-Booking for International Travellers
Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL), India's largest private airport operator and duty-free retailer, has partnered with MakeMyTrip, the country's leading online travel platform, to streamline duty-free shopping for international passengers.
The collaboration introduces an advance booking system for duty-free purchases available to both departing and arriving international travellers. Through the service, passengers can explore more than 10 product categories featuring over 100 brands and 14,000 stock-keeping units before their journey. The platform offers online-exclusive deals across various merchandise categories.
The initiative places purchasing decisions at the travel planning stage rather than at airport terminals. This approach is intended to minimise browsing and queuing time at the airport while enabling travellers to make deliberate purchasing choices earlier in their journey. The system helps optimise time allocation from check-in procedures through boarding and arrival.
AAHL manages duty-free retail operations at six airports: Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Mangaluru, Jaipur, and Thiruvananthapuram. As a major player in India's international travel market, MakeMyTrip brings established expertise in connecting travellers with travel services.
Arun Bansal, Chief Executive Officer of AAHL, stated: "By enabling duty-free pre-booking through MakeMyTrip, we are bringing more convenience to international travellers. The integration allows travellers to plan purchases in advance, save time at the airport, and access curated offers, making the duty-free experience simpler and more rewarding."
Rajesh Magow, Co-founder and Group CEO of MakeMyTrip, added: "This association is a natural extension of our Connected Trips strategy, which is centred on building a seamless, end-to-end travel experience. This collaboration gives international travellers the ability to plan smarter, make informed choices, and save more, simply by booking duty-free purchases in advance."
Eligible international passengers can access the duty-free pre-booking service via the MakeMyTrip application and mobile web platform, with product collection available at AAHL-operated airports. The companies plan to introduce supplementary features in subsequent phases.
