Hyderabad Police Solve Murder Case as Remains Discovered Under Kitchen Platform

Hyderabad authorities have successfully resolved a homicide investigation that lay dormant for months before the remains surfaced at a residential property in Neredmet. The case has been registered under Crime No. 350/2026, invoking Sections 103(1) and 238(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The arrested individual is identified as Gavvala Mallesh, 47, a plumber residing in J.K. Colony, Neredmet. The victim has been identified as Kanchi Venkat Ramulu, also 47, a labourer from Moula Ali.
According to investigators, Mallesh had been living independently following a separation from his family. Police records indicate he had previously faced criminal charges and served time in judicial custody in an unrelated matter.
The two men were acquainted through labour markets, where they frequently socialised over alcohol. On December 15, 2025, the pair encountered each other at a labour adda in HB Colony. Following drinks at a nearby wine shop, they proceeded to Mallesh's rented residence.
During their drinking session, tensions escalated when the victim allegedly made disparaging comments regarding Mallesh's personal circumstances. In response, Mallesh reportedly struck the victim repeatedly with a wooden stick, inflicting severe head trauma that proved fatal.
Following the killing, the accused allegedly bound the victim's limbs and neck with rope before concealing the body beneath the kitchen platform. He then constructed a brick structure to cover the remains inside the house.
As decomposition advanced, odours emanating from the property prompted Mallesh to flee. The victim's isolation from family members meant that no one reported him as missing.
The discovery occurred on April 17, 2026, when the property owner, unable to reach Mallesh for an extended period, forced entry into the locked dwelling. Upon encountering a pungent smell, the owner uncovered skeletal remains beneath the kitchen platform.
Through forensic analysis and investigative techniques, police identified and apprehended Mallesh near Jubilee Bus Station on May 1, 2026.
The investigation was overseen by senior officials from Malkajgiri Zone, with Inspector P. Sandeep Kumar, Detective Inspector Ch. Srinivas, Sub-Inspector Sai Avinash, and the broader Neredmet Police team executing the operation.
